Slide-out service and repair
This slide was repaired about a
week earlier at a dealership in Ohio.
You can pretty clearly see the pin
sheared in the first couple pictures.
In the picture to the left, the shear pin
did it's job and sheared when the
other end broke. With only one end
working, the slide will not move in or
out correctly. In the pictures below
you can see the square tubes that go
between the gear box and the motor
has had one set cut shorter and nuts
welded to the bars and regular bolts
were used instead of the shear bolts
it was designed for. They did this
because the old pins were drilled out
so crooked that they had to use an oversize bolt in the holes. The motor was also destroyed by
using the same unapproved technique for repair. You can see in the picture of the motor how
big the hole was drilled out to, and also after only one week the hole is already elongating. They
sure took a lot of time re-engineering this system for only  one week of operation. The square
tubes are just ordinary square stock, no real need to coble these. The coach is still under
warranty so we contacted Tiffin Motorhomes in Alabama. They authorized us to perform the
warranty repairs and sent us most the parts out overnight shipping. When we disassembled
the mechanism we then found they had destroyed
the motor also. We installed what we had and then
ordered the motor overnight again from Tiffin. We
received the motor the next day and finished the
repair. The two gear assemblies were correctly
timed together and the slide now works great!
The previous repair was some of the worst
work we've seen on such a new motor coach,
especially a coach that is still receiving repairs
under warranty. This is a perfect example that just
because it's the dealership doesn't necessarily
mean that you get top notch work. That depends
on the quality of the technician performing your
repairs .Repairing this right the first time would
have saved four days from their trip. We had to
repair this coach right on site at Cottonwood
Campground in Holt. The slide  moved in and out
freely with no way to secure it, so going down the
road was not an option. On-site repairs are now
available! If you are in a campground and you need
emergency service, many repairs can be
performed on site. There is a service call fee and
a charge for miles. Still cheaper than a tow! Call us  for more details about on-site repairs.

Plumbing
Leaks, low flow, no hot water, whatever!
Have a plumbing problem- No Problem!
Give us a call. We can take care of that!
The trailer above came in with water damage to the roof and rear upper corners of the back wall. The second picture shows the corner molding pulled away from the water damage. We pulled the rubber membrane to expose the damage to
inspect. We found wood that was rotted and needed replacing. The third and fourth picture show a clear picture of the water damage.
You can see in the first picture the back outer wall has been removed to access the rotted wood in the back. The second picture shows a better angle of the rear wall and the water damage that the right rear corner has. The third picture is just
a closer look at the wood in the corner and how rotted it is. The forth picture shows the roof top stripped of all components to prepare for the removal of the rubber membrane.
The first picture above shows the left rear corner and the water that has soaked into the corner right behind the skylight opening. The second picture shows the damage continueing down the wall on the left side. The third picture shows the
damage all the way to the floor area on the left side. The fourth picture shows a partial roof shot without the rubber membrane on the roof and the insulation exposed.
The first picture is actually the rubber membrane with the material that the coach builder used as the roof. It basically was a fiber board similiar to cardboard that was used as the roof top. When we first inspected the roof we thought it was
much worse. Every where we checked on the roof it was soft. No wonder! The roof was card board, not wood! Now thart the trailer is stripped of all the rotted materials and the unit has aired and the wood that is still solid dries, it's now
time to repair and assemble the trailer. The second picture shows the wood replaced in the rear and insulation being replaced. The third picture shows the rear all rebuilt and new insulation installed. It is now ready to have the rear built in
with wood. The fourth picture shows the wood being put into place.
In the first picture all of the rear wall has now been attached and you can see the wires protruding thru for the upper marker lights. The second picture shows the wall trimmed in and a perfect fit. Now that the back wall has been repaired, it
is now time to rebuild the roof. Pictures 3 and 4 show the process of decking the roof. Each hole needs to be cut exactly in place to ensure a proper fit and a good seal when done.
Now that all of the wood has been installed on both the back and the roof, its now time to install a new rubber membrane. The second and third  pictures show the membrane in place but not fitted or attached. The fourth picture shows the
membrane in place and glued down and fitted but only the plumbing vents sticking out.
In the first and second picture you can see where the vents and the skylight at the rear have been cut into place. Pictures 3 and 4 show coponents in place, sealed and what a finished roof top should look like.
Now that the roof is done it's time to finish the rear. The first picture shows the filon installed. the second and third picture is the cutting of the opening and the window installation. The fourth picture shows the finished product from the
rear. This person elected to not put any decals back on. We can either replace what was there or if you want something different, that's possible also!
Here are a few more photos of
repairs made by us!
This is what a new roof is supposed to look like! Smooth and
clean! If your new roof has bumps under the rubber, or lines
caused from the wood not blending together, then it's simply not
going to last. Better get up there and check yours while you still
have warranty!
