The trailer above came in with water damage to the roof and rear upper corners of the back wall. The second picture shows the corner molding pulled away from the water damage. We pulled the rubber membrane to expose the damage to inspect. We found wood that was rotted and needed replacing. The third and fourth picture show a clear picture of the water damage.
You can see in the first picture the back outer wall has been removed to access the rotted wood in the back. The second picture shows a better angle of the rear wall and the water damage that the right rear corner has. The third picture is just a closer look at the wood in the corner and how rotted it is. The forth picture shows the roof top stripped of all components to prepare for the removal of the rubber membrane.
The first picture above shows the left rear corner and the water that has soaked into the corner right behind the skylight opening. The second picture shows the damage continueing down the wall on the left side. The third picture shows the damage all the way to the floor area on the left side. The fourth picture shows a partial roof shot without the rubber membrane on the roof and the insulation exposed.
The first picture is actually the rubber membrane with the material that the coach builder used as the roof. It basically was a fiber board similiar to cardboard that was used as the roof top. When we first inspected the roof we thought it was much worse. Every where we checked on the roof it was soft. No wonder! The roof was card board, not wood! Now thart the trailer is stripped of all the rotted materials and the unit has aired and the wood that is still solid dries, it's now time to repair and assemble the trailer. The second picture shows the wood replaced in the rear and insulation being replaced. The third picture shows the rear all rebuilt and new insulation installed. It is now ready to have the rear built in with wood. The fourth picture shows the wood being put into place.
In the first picture all of the rear wall has now been attached and you can see the wires protruding thru for the upper marker lights. The second picture shows the wall trimmed in and a perfect fit. Now that the back wall has been repaired, it is now time to rebuild the roof. Pictures 3 and 4 show the process of decking the roof. Each hole needs to be cut exactly in place to ensure a proper fit and a good seal when done.
Now that all of the wood has been installed on both the back and the roof, its now time to install a new rubber membrane. The second and third pictures show the membrane in place but not fitted or attached. The fourth picture shows the membrane in place and glued down and fitted but only the plumbing vents sticking out.
In the first and second picture you can see where the vents and the skylight at the rear have been cut into place. Pictures 3 and 4 show coponents in place, sealed and what a finished roof top should look like.
Now that the roof is done it's time to finish the rear. The first picture shows the filon installed. the second and third picture is the cutting of the opening and the window installation. The fourth picture shows the finished product from the rear. This person elected to not put any decals back on. We can either replace what was there or if you want something different, that's possible also!

This is what a new roof is supposed to look like! Smooth and clean! If your new roof has bumps under the rubber, or lines caused from the wood not blending together, then it's simply not going to last. Better get up there and check yours while you still have warranty!
